Sara Whittington “Whitney” (May) Knight practices primarily in the areas of construction contracts, construction litigation, professional liability, and dispute resolution. She has represented architects, landscape architects, engineers, interior designers, contractors, and subcontractors in litigation, risk management, and contract drafting and negotiation.
In 2005, Whitney received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of Colorado at Boulder, graduating with distinction. She received her J.D. from the University of San Diego School of Law in May 2010. She served as an Executive Member of the Appellate Moot Court Board and competed in various moot court competitions, earning a Best Brief award in the Paul A. McLennon Constitutional Law Tournament.
Prior to joining Allensworth & Porter, Whitney was a staff attorney for a civil justice reform group, where she was responsible for drafting, analyzing, and tracking business-related legislation during the 82nd Legislative Session. In addition, she gained clerkship experience at firms that practice in the areas of real estate, oil and gas, and insurance defense. While in law school, Whitney also served as an extern for the Honorable Dana M. Sabraw of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California and a clerk for the U.S. Attorney’s office. Before entering law school, Whitney spent two years in Washington D.C. as Coordinator for Senior Executive Actions at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Michael Chertoff.
Whitney proudly hails from Austin, Texas, where she attended Austin High School.
