W. Wade Porter
(1952 – 2011)
W. Wade Porter, co-founder of Allensworth & Porter, LLP, passed away on February 1, 2011. He had more than 20 years of experience in construction law as well as environmental litigation, intellectual property, malpractice defense, and complex business litigation.
Wade received his law degree from the University of Texas Law School and began his career as a briefing attorney with the Texas Supreme Court. He went on to become managing partner at the Austin office of Haynes and Boone for five years, served as a director of the State Bar of Texas, and participated in the International Partnership of Greater Austin and the Mayor’s International Cabinet.
Throughout his career, Wade led a variety of challenging, important cases, including the collection of the largest civil penalty under the federal Clean Water Act-the largest environmental penalty in the history of the State of Texas. Some of his many other accomplishments include successfully defending manufacturers against patent infringement, life insurance companies against securities fraud, and aiding physicians facing malpractice before administrative boards.
Kind, jovial, unremittingly generous, and intelligent, Wade was loved and respected by clients, colleagues, and friends alike; his sharp wit and good nature will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.
