Construction Contracts

Construction ContractsAllensworth & Porter, LLP has an extensive practice drafting and negotiating construction documents. Our lawyers have written extensively on the benefits of thoughtful drafting of construction contracts, and are frequent lecturers on contract issues. We believe that careful preparation can often avoid unnecessary or expensive disputes during the construction process.

The firm’s attorneys have a combined experience of several decades preparing construction documents using the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Contract Documents. We routinely draft and revise Owner/Architect agreements, Owner/Contractor agreements, Architect/Sub consultant agreements, and subcontractor agreements, using both the current and older editions of the AIA Contract Documents.

We also have experience drafting bidding and construction documents using the Engineer’s Joint Council on Construction Documents (EJCDC) documents and have prepared contracts using the AGC’s ConsesusDOCS. Our lawyers have written on Building Information Modeling (BIM) comparing the AIA’s Integrated Project Delivery System and the ConsensusDOCS’ 301 BIM Addendum. The firm also assists clients with various manuscript contract forms and consistently explores advantages for clients negotiating their risk allocation for any number of projects.

The lawyers at Allensworth & Porter have assisted clients in selecting project delivery systems, bidding requirements for municipal projects, and have prepared or negotiated contracts for projects ranging of substantial size.
