Our Practice

Allensworth & Porter, L.L.P. is a firm of ten lawyers representing the construction industry, primarily in the resolution of construction-related disputes.  Many of our clients include prominent Texas architects, engineers, and contractors.  The firm also represents owners and developers, municipalities and municipally-owned utilities, and subcontractors and suppliers.  However, the firm also represents domestic and international businesses in complex commercial disputes.  Our lawyers assist clients in drafting and negotiating construction contracts, wind farm and solar array contracts, and the preparation of lien affidavits and bond claims.  We also represent architects and engineers in professional disciplinary matters and maintain an industry-specific legislative practice, primarily in bill monitoring and in preparing and delivering testimony for legislative hearings.

Although some of the firm's lawyers occasionally serve as arbitrators, mediators, or expert witnesses, the vast majority of the firm’s work consists of advocating its clients’ positions in litigation and arbitration proceedings primarily involving disputes arising out of the construction process.  The firm also has an extensive administrative practice defending clients before the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners (TBAE) and Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE), and disputes heard by the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) and various procurement agencies including the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and Texas Parks and Wildlife.
